6 Months, 2 1/2 yrs and holiday fun!

We are so excited for Christmas this year! It is the first time Koben is understanding what is going on. He loved seeing Santa this year (we have seen a santa 3 times) and asked him for a dinosaur. So cute! I told him, "now tell Santa what you want him to bring you for Christmas", so he told him like he had known forever what he was going to ask for! He has loved putting up the tree and house lights with dad. Oma will be here on the 21st to visit and we already have cookie baking supplies ready and a gingerbread house to build when she gets here. We have some Christmas traditions we do. On Christmas Eve we all open early gifts (always new p.j.'s for everyone), the boys each get an ornament on Christmas (Avery's parents started this tradition and all of the kids had a box of ornaments when they moved out), and of course we will leave cookies and milk for Santa like my mom and dad did with us. I also want to figure out a traditional Christmas breakfast to start making-something simple but yummy! So fun!

It is amazing to me that Kellan is 6 months old! Holy cow, these six months flew by! But let me tell you, this kid thinks he a 9 month old! He has two teeth in, almost three. We have not been able to use his swing, bouncy seat or bumbo chair for a while now. He is so strong, he was either sitting up or pushing back and up to get out. Sometimes when he is done eating he will roll right over on my lap and try and crawl off! Speaking of crawling, I think it's gonna happen any day now! He is scooting all over the house and getting on all fours and rocking, trying to go. I got an adorable video of Koben trying to tell Kellan to crawl to him, which I willhopefully post soon. They are so sweet together :-) We started rice cereal, and tomorrow we are starting a veggie. He loved it. I'm pretty sure he was ready earlier to try it, but i wanted to try and exclusively breastfeed for 6 months, which is what the ped. recomended also. I am anticipating his 6 month check-up to see how much he has grown. He is still as happy as can be, even through the teething. He does totally fight his sleep now, and I've found that when he does this, if I just lay him down instead of rocking him, he will fall asleep on his own. I can't beleive he does it, but I'm not gonna complain!

Koben is now 2 1/2 and pretty much hillarious all the time. He is so smart and the things he will come up with sometimes just amaze me. I have been trying to find him some sort of class to put him in like we did back home and we bought him some things for Christmas that we think will help to tame all his energy. I feel like sometimes I don't have enough for him to do. He is just always going even when we do activities, those don't hold his attention long. I have been getting out with a new mom's group I found which has been great for him and mommy ;-) The women seem really great and do a lot of activites we like. We are holding our first playdate at our house next month, so that will be a lot of fun! Koben is getting his top molars in. Poor kid, they are pretty brutal and it's been hard on him. I've had to give him tylenol a couple of times, which I don't do unless it's really needed. I put numbing gel on them the other night and he was so funny. He kept sticking his tounge out and feeling his teeth going "This feels weird mommy, it's better." I wish I could freeze him and keep him innocent and silly forever, I love this age. We are pretty lucky parents to be blessed with such beautiful little boys :-)
